Born in West Germany in 1954, Schütte grew up artistically, as he says, in the “gray, bourgeois seventies”. Despite being influenced by minimalism and conceptualism, he turned to the narrative and figurative and pursued a multifaceted material approach in his art production, inspired by ancient statues, early modern sculptures, postmodern architecture and personal artistic, cultural and political explorations.

THE EXHIBITION IS ON VIEW FROM SEPTEMBER 29, 2024 TO JANUARY 18, 2025

MoMA 11 West 53 Street, Manhattan, New York
