GERHARD RICHTER: Sixty Years

The Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris is hosting a major retrospective featuring works by Gerhard Richter.

Continuing its tradition of major monographic exhibitions dedicated to leading figures in 20th- and 21st-century art—including Jean-Michel Basquiat, Joan Mitchell, Mark Rothko, and David Hockney—the Fondation is now showcasing Gerhard Richter, widely regarded as one of the most important and internationally acclaimed artists of his generation.

Gerhard Richter was already represented at the Fondation Louis Vuitton's opening presentation in 2014 with a series of works from the collection. Now the Fondation is honoring the artist with an extraordinary retrospective that is unparalleled in both its scope and chronological range, comprising 270 works from 1962 to 2024. The exhibition includes oil paintings, sculptures made of glass and steel, pencil and ink drawings, watercolors, and painted-over photographs. For the first time, an exhibition offers a comprehensive overview of more than six decades of work by Gerhard Richter—an artist whose greatest joy has always been working in his studio.

THE EXHIBITION IS ON DISPLAY FROM OCTOBER 17, 2025, TO MARCH 2, 2026.
