Xenia Hausner with two exhibitions at Venice Biennale
Palazzo FranchettiMay 11 –November26, 2017San Marco 2847, Venice, Italy
Returning to Venice fort he 57th Venice Biennale, Glasstress brings together 34 leading contemporary artists from Europe, the United States, the Middle East and China in an ambitious exhibition exploring the endless creative possibilities of glass. Conceived by Fondazione Berengo, the project will take place in two exceptional historic locations: Palazzo Franchetti in Venide and a converted furnace in Murano.
Xenia Hausner refers to her fascination for the Chinese culture. Paper imitations of consumer goods, ritually sacrified and burnt, are worked into her world of images. Now these paper objects are resurrected into the artistic medium of glass.
XENIA HAUSNER – EXILES in „Personal Structures“
Palazzo Bembo May 13 –November 26, 2017 Riva del Carbon 4793, Venice, Italy
Xenia Hausner shows a body of large-scale works which deal with questions of belonging and rootlessness in uncertain times.
Her pictures fill a transit zone between yearning and fear, between hope and abandonment. Expelled or saved? An adaption of reality or an intentional staging of it do not change the facts at all – what remains of this passing by is the power of painting to express a journey into an undetermined future.
