Nanne Meyer - Gute Gründe: Solo exhibition at the Kunstmuseum Bonn
From 27 June to 6 October 2019, the Kunstmuseum Bonn is devoting a solo exhibition to the comprehensive work of the artist Nanne Meyer.
Nanne Meyer's work has concentrated on drawings since the 1970s. Born in Hamburg in 1953, the artist has lived and worked in Berlin since the 1990s, where she taught visual communication as a professor at the Kunsthochschule Berlin-Weißensee from 1994 to 2016. Lines are the main medium of her drawings, with which she explores the various aspects, forms and materials of drawing and extends them into the picturesque and object-like.
"I understand drawing as a mediation between seeing and thinking, between perception and terminology," says Nanne Meyer. Her works move fluently between objectivity and abstraction. She creates an unstable cartography of the world that does not define anything and does not come to an end, but rather gains its presence and productivity precisely from the fluctuation, the transformation, the insertion and disappearance.
The exhibition, realized in close cooperation with the artist, includes works from the 1980s through to drawings created for the exhibition and provides the largest overview to date of a work of astonishing richness.
